this one is for you if you put a chat on your website and it doesn't match.
your site has its colors and its font. the chat button in the corner has someone else's. when a visitor opens it, the chat window looks like it came from another company.
this letter is about retune's chat. if yours is from another tool, you'd swap its script for retune's and then do what's below. retune answers from the pages of your site you point it at.
a lot of people asked for a fix on the retune roadmap. someone wrote that a chatbot is useless if it doesn't look like part of your website. others just wanted a different font, or the button on the left. so there's a theme tab for the chat now.
the bakery is sunrise bakery. i made it up to show the feature. its site has warm colors and a serif font, and the chat button opens in bright violet.
you open the theme tab. the settings are on the left and your real chat widget is on the right. you click a preset, like warm bakery, and the colors, the font and the corners change at once.
nothing is saved yet. you can try a darker color and a couple of fonts, then round the corners. the preview changes as you go.
you can move the chat button to the left and make it bigger. you can swap the icon for an emoji, like a croissant, and add a short label next to it.
you can give the chat a name at the top and a line under it. if people ask about something you'd rather they check with you, like allergies, you can add a line at the bottom that says to call.
then you save and reload your own site. the script on your site is the same one as before, so you don't change anything there. the answers come from the same bot as before.
the bot's name label and the "powered by" line stay grey. everything else follows the theme.
there are five font families: inter, system, serif, rounded and mono. it doesn't load your site's own font. so a serif site gets a serif chat, close but not the same one.
the preview shows the chat on a sample page, not your site. after you save, reload your site to see it for real. if you change your mind, reset to default puts the old look back.
it changes how the chat looks, not what it says.
if they open the chat and don't know what to type, this letter about a chat nobody uses is about that. and if the answers are wrong, a matching color won't help. questions the bot couldn't answer land in an inbox where you write the answer once.
the theme works anywhere you can paste a script. there's a letter each for squarespace, wix and webflow with the exact steps.
